YOUNGSTOWN— As a celebration of the hard work put in over the past two years by Obama campaign workers, volunteers and local Democratic Party members, the Boxcar Lounge is having an election party.
The party will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the B&O Station and Boxcar Lounge on Mahoning Avenue.
Democratic representatives expected to attend include Major Jay Williams, Sen. Robert Hagan, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, Mahoning County Commissioners Anthony Traficanti, John McNally and David Lute, Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairwoman Lisa Antonini and former Mahoning party chairman Michael Morley.
Boxcar Lounge Owner George Case said he expects between 300 and 500 people to attend.
“It’s an open invitation,” he said. “Between us and the B&O hopefully it’s one big shindig.”
Case said anyone looking for a location full of Obama supporters will find solace at his bar tonight.
“We’re in a very Democratic area here, and we’re in a very Democratic state of ownership between this place and the B&O,” he said. “I think that... Obama and the Democratic party is definitely what’s best in mind for our community.”
Those in attendance will be able to enjoy food, drinks, music and a live performance by local band The First Degree as they await results of the presidential election.
