English/Dahlkemper race still in air
The polls closed at 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania, and by 8:30 p p.m., it was still too early to get a sense of how things were going in the tightly contested race for the U.S. House seat in the 3rd District.
Political Newcomer Kathy Dahlkemper was greeting supporters who were “pouring in” to meet her at the Saga Club in Erie, said her press secretary Cal Garner.
Garner, along with Mercer County’s Democratic Party Chairman Bob Lark, said it could be a while before we know who won, as Democrat Dahlkemper gave 14-year Republican Phil English a hard run. Lark said results might not be a certainty until absentee votes are counted. But Garner was hopeful the results would be known by later tonight.
