MAHONING COUNTY | War casualties

Soldiers from Mahoning County who lost their lives during the Vietnam War were honored at a ceremony Sunday in downtown Youngstown. A breakdown of those who served from the county:

Estimated number of all veterans: 37,000

Number of Vietnam veterans: 8,000

Killed in combat: 100

Prisoners of war or missing in action: 2

Comrades who died from service-related illnesses: 19
