Sign up for Salvation Army Christmas assistance

YOUNGSTOWN — The Salvation Army, Mahoning County Area Services, 1501 Glenwood Ave., will have its second chance Christmas assistance sign-ups from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2-4.

Applicants must provide valid photo identification; have Social Security cards for everyone in the household; have proof of guardianship for children 12 years and younger through medical or insurance cards, court papers, document from Job and Family Services or birth certificates; and show that household income is 200 percent of federal poverty level and be willing to sign an income verification form.

Children 12 and younger and newborns born before Jan. 1, 2009, will receive a toy.

Singles, senior citizens, couples and families will all children older than 12 years old will receive food vouchers.

Applicants may only sign up with one agency or church for Christmas assistance. No phone calls or phone applications will be accepted.
