Shootings leave 2 injured

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after they shot each other in the stomach during an argument in the 600 Block of Sherwood Avenue.

Seriously wounded and in St. Elizabeth Health Center are Sherman Perkins, 35, of Fairfax Street, shot twice in the abdomen and once in the right arm; and Daquann Hackett, 19, of East Judson Avenue, shot once in the abdomen. The shootings occurred around 2 p.m.

When police arrived, they found Perkins sitting on the steps at 611 Sherwood bleeding from his midsection, and Hackett in the backyard of 618, where he had collapsed, also bleeding from his midsection.

Police recovered two handguns, a revolver and an automatic, and several empty shell casings on the street in front of 611 Sherwood and in the backyard of 618 Sherwood.
