SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 10 a.m. and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting and Alzheimer Support Group at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, cornhole practice at 1:15 p.m. and digital club and caregiver support program at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., computer at 10 and noon, tai chi at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, woodcarvers and Watch Our Weight Club at 9 a.m., exercise at noon and line dancing at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Texas Hold’em at 1 p.m. Special events include: Thursday, Boardman Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Friday, performance of “Madama Butterfly” by Opera Western Reserve at 8 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium. Home Energy Assistance Program applications are available at the center. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount program of $12.38 per month for eligible applicants. Western Reserve Baptist Church, 8590 Hitchcock Road, Boardman, will be the setting Friday for a Midday Connection, designed for seniors. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature games and activities and a lunch at noon. Reservations are appreciated. There is no charge; donations will be accepted.
