Ursuline High salutes its 100th graduating class

YOUNGSTOWN — For the 100th class of Ursuline High School graduates, “don’t stop believing” is more than a song by the rock band Journey. It’s their class motto of faith and family.

Shared experience and connection was the message from students, parents and speakers at Ursuline’s centennial commencement today at Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue. Religion and school pride intertwined as speakers followed prayers with cries of “Go, Irish!”

The Rev. Richard Murphy, associate principal, lauded graduates on a “record breaking year” of scholarships, announcing a combined $9,021,800 offered to the class. Father Murphy also saluted the parents in the audience for their family example of making “many sacrifices” to financially support their children’s education.
