Small plane crash kills two on board in SW Ohio
HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — A small plane crashed seconds after takeoff from an airport near this town in southwest Ohio on Friday, killing the two people on board, authorities said.
A woman in the driveway of her parents’ farmhouse less than a mile from the crash site said she saw the plane hit trees.
“The right wing hit the ground first and then the fuselage,” Sharon Mays said. “Then it was just all in flames. I turned my car off, called 911 and started running toward it. You want to help, but you know there is just nothing you can do.”
The State Highway Patrol was leading the investigation. A dispatcher said no further information was available. The names of the victims had not been released.
Hillsboro is about 50 miles east of Cincinnati.
