Sharpsville fire leaves family homeless

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — An electrical problem is believed to be the cause of a blaze that left a family of five homeless.

Firefighters were called about 11:50 p.m. Friday to 140 Locust St., where a child had awakened and smelled smoke. The child woke up the mother and they found their kitchen filled with smoke.

Everyone got out of the house without getting injured, Fire Chief Andy Totin said, but the home sustained heavy damage. The three children and two adults who lived there were staying with family members.
