Man indicted in child rape cases
The boy made his allegations after the suspect moved out.
YOUNGSTOWN — A 32-year-old man faces a potential life prison sentence if he’s convicted on charges of raping a girl while she was 9 and 10 years old, and a boy while he was between the ages of 7 and 9.
The Mahoning County grand jury indicted Chad E. Romigh, 32, on four counts each of rape, gross sexual imposition and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. The 12-count indictment, returned Thursday, shows a Fairground Boulevard, Canfield, address for Romigh.
The alleged offenses were committed against a girlfriend’s children between July 1, 2006, and Oct. 1, 2007, while Romigh lived with her in Youngstown.
The children’s mother told Youngstown police Romigh moved out on April 5 this year after she and Romigh fought.
On April 20, her son told police that, over the two years, Romigh would disrobe and order the boy to engage in a sex act with him. The boy, who didn’t make his allegations to his mother until April 20, told her he was afraid to tell her about the alleged abuse while Romigh resided with the family, the boy’s mother told police.
The woman also turned over to police other sexually oriented material related to the case.
On May 2, Youngstown police arrested Romigh at a local mental health agency and jailed him on a bench warrant for failure to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court on a domestic violence charge.
