Late rally lifts Roth past Livi Steel

Simon Roofing got out of trouble in the seventh inning to beat R&J Trucking.

STRUTHERS — Roth Brothers scored five times in the final two innings for a come from behind 6-3 victory over Livi Steel in a Class B League game Friday.

Dan Sacui and Sammy Jenkins had two hits each while Jenkins tossed a complete game for Roth (2-2). Jenkins allowed two earned runs and had four strikeouts.

Bob Herberger, Garrett Malloy and losing pitcher Jim McConnell had two hits each for Livi (1-3). McConnell also went the distance allowing just two earned runs with five strikeouts.

Simon Roofing 7, R J Trucking 4

Simon Roofing used a five-run fourth inning and then got out of a bases-loaded jam with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

Rick Sommers had four hits, while Matt Durkin added a pair of doubles, Dante Abbas a single and a double with three RBIs for Simon (3-1). Evan Bollinger went five innings for the win with five strikeouts.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Roberto Morales came on and struck out the last batter for R J for the save.

Matt Pitzulo and Dan Kubala had two hits each for R J.

YOUNGSTOWN AA Yo. Metros 5, Penn-Ohio 1

YOUNGSTOWN — Cameron Cimino doubled twice, singled and scored a run to help Youngstown Metros.

Alex Oles pitched five no-hit, shutout innings to get the win, striking out 10 and walking four. Matt Yarab added two hits.

Mike Barone got the lone hit for Penn-Ohio.

WARREN AA Elite Shockers 2, P.I. I. Express 0

Jeremy Krol struck out 11 and allowed three hits in a complete-game shutout. Brian McClung had two hits for Elite, which scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning. Todd Ruminski pitched four shutout innings for Express.

Champion Marlins 10, Flex Strut 1

Lance Townsend had three hits, including a triple and two doubles, and three RBIs for Champion. Mike Sweeney added two singles, and winning pitcher Tom Popadak and Rob Bauman had two RBIs. Popadak struck out six in five innings. Mike Hanck hit a pair of doubles for Flex Strut.

Champion Marlins 12, Trumbull Co. Predators 0

John St. John and Mark Jackson combined on a two-hitter for Champion. Joe Cvengros, Sweeney, Jason Johnson and Dustin Chapin all had two hits for Champion. Cvengros scored four runs, hit a double and drove in three runs. Sweeney scored twice and Johnson had two RBIs.

Flex Strut 5, Cleats Club Seat Grille 3

Richard Bencha scattered six hits and fanned six for Flex Strut, which scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie. Jeremy Albani of Cleats had two singles.
