Junior women’s league installs new members

AUSTINTOWN — On May 5 the Boardman Poland Junior Women’s League had its annual Spring Installation Social at the Upstairs Lounge.

The installation of the new members, Kathy Huston, Elia Stanko, Sue Calhoun and Amy Widrig, was officiated by Julie Vugrinovich, 2008-2010 director of Junior Clubs GFWC/OFWC.

Yvonne Ford was also installed as 2008 League president.

Member Linda Crish is the new 2008-2010 Northeast District OFWC president and was installed in April at the GFWC/OFWC convention in Columbus.

Kirsten Weaver, a sophomore at Canfield High School, was recently chosen as Juniorette of the Year for 2007 for the state of Ohio. She has been a Juniorette for four years and was Juniorette president in 2007.

The league completed many service projects this year, such as bake and book sales, to benefit children at the Rescue Mission. Other service projects included assisting league members at the soup kitchen and the league’s golf outing.

The league was organized Oct. 5, 1979, federated in March 1980 and incorporated in October 1984. Its purpose is to provide a creative outlet for women interested in giving service and rendering themselves helpful to each other and useful to society.
