Canfield wins, 2-0, to earn state trip

AKRON — Tricia Bettura fired a four-hitter and Mandy Moliterno hit a two-run homer to lead the Canfield High softball team to a 2-0 victory over Akron Hoban.

Bettura struck out six and walked none for the Cardinals (21-4-1). In the fifth inning, Bryanne Halfhill doubled for Canfield’s first hit of the game then scored on Moliterno’s homer over the left-field fence.

Friday at 10 a.m., Canfield will play a state semifinal game at Firestone Stadium.
