4 sites to receive Historic Preservation Awards

YOUNGSTOWN — Four historical sites in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, brought back to life through renovations and restorations, will be honored with Historic Preservation Awards.

These particular sites, and three others, were nominated by members of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, the eastern Ohio chapter of the American Institution of Architecture and other local historical organizations.

“We basically send a nomination form to anyone who we think would have interest,” said Bill Lawson, executive director of the historical society.

This is the fourth year for the awards, which will be during the historical society’s 133rd annual meeting. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. June 17 in the Christman Room at Stambaugh Auditorium.
