Youngstown Citizens Police Academy

A graduation ceremony was Thursday for 19 citizens who completed the 10-week police academy course. The course is run by Detective Sgt. Delphine Baldwin-Casey of the Youngstown Police Department. The total number of citizens who now have graduated from Youngstown and surrounding communities is 94. Baldwin-Casey said the class helps community members understand the role of the police and how they work together with the community to do their jobs.

Quote: “It gives them a better understanding. And they no longer have those negative preconceived notions about police officers,” Baldwin-Casey.

Graduates: Aleesha Bell, Carl Bryant, Evangelist Doris Jean Carter, Philip Cato, Addier Douglas, Shanta Douglas, Terrance Escaro, Fred George, Mary Hunt, Polly Marlow, Cynthia McWilson, Tom Sheridan, Helen Sheridan, Christine Silvestri, Rich Tarnaski and Valerie Willis.
