United Way

In the past 85 years, the agency and its predecessor organizations have raised more than $98 million in contributions, nearly half, or $48.3 million, since 1990.

United Way used nearly $1.3 million of its emergency reserves since 1990.

Volunteer involvement kept fundraising and administrative expenses at 20.4 percent in 2007, in line with similar size communities.

During the period 1995 to 2007, United Way’s operating expenses were $230,795 below the amount budgeted, with savings returned to the general fund.

Employee donations from all sectors represent 71.5 percent of the total amount raised in 2007, while corporate contributions amounted to 17.9 percent.
