BOARDMAN — Police arrested two men accused of breaking and entering after seeing them near a U.S. Route 224 business.

Gary Sayers, 23, of Pittsburgh, and Jason Ryhal, 24, of Woodworth Road, North Lima, were each charged with breaking and entering early Thursday.

A police officer on patrol saw the two men walking around a U.S. Route 224 business about 12:30 a.m. and stopped to talk to them. The men told the officer they lived in the Hitchcock Apartments and were walking to Giant Eagle. They told the officer which apartment they lived in and he released them.

The officer checked the nearby business and found a broken window at Shear Elegance, a hair salon. The salon had been broken into and the inside ransacked. A rock that had been thrown through the window was found on the floor.

Police went to the apartment where Sayers and Ryhal had said they lived and found that both had shards of glass on the bottoms of their shoes. Ryhal also had $20 cash in the denominations that the salon’s owner said was kept in the cash register.

Police also found two suspected crack pipes inside of the apartment and charged another resident, Shawn Simpson, 37, of West Boulevard, with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Simpson was released on a summons and Sayers and Ryhal were in the Mahoning County Jail.
