pavlik roundup News and notes
Weather or not: The main roadblock to Kelly Pavlik fighting outdoors in Youngstown is the Valley’s unpredictable weather, but his co-manager Cameron Dunkin thinks fans would attend rain or shine. “People sit outside in the snow and rain and watch football, so what’s the difference if it’s a fight?” Dunkin said. “You put a tarp over it [the ring] in case it rains. We’re not afraid of the weather.” An outdoor venue at, say, Stambaugh Stadium would make for cheaper tickets than a smaller arena such as the Chevrolet Centre, which wouldn’t hold as many people. “A fight would be fantastic in Cleveland too,” Dunkin said. “Kelly’s gone everywhere he’s supposed to go. He’s fought in L.A., he’s fought in Memphis, he’s gone to Atlantic City, then he went to Vegas. I’d like him to come home and with all he’s accomplished, you know it’ll be big. And Kelly would love it. Whenever I mention it to him, he’s ready to fight that night.”
