Layoffs at KraftMaid in Middlefield

MIDDLEFIELD — A combination of 400 hourly and salaried employees were unexpectedly laid off from production and offices at a KraftMaid in Middlefield and Orwell. A spokeswoman said the “unprecedented downturn in the housing market” was the reason for the layoffs.
