Men’s basketball recruit
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State’s men’s basketball program has added junior college guard Tom Parks to the program.
Parks (6-foot-6, 210 pounds) played last year at Sheridan (Wy.) College. He attended Air Force Prep School after graduating from Cheyenne Central High School. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Last season he averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Page receives ESPN honors
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State senior infielder Josh Page has been voted first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Page earned second team honors the previous two years. He earned his degree in middle childhood education earlier this month and graduated summa cum laude with a final GPA of 3.86.

Cleveland State All-Sports winner
MARCO ISLAND, Fla. --- For the first time in school history, Cleveland State University has claimed the James J. McCafferty Trophy as the Horizon League’s all-sports champion. The crystal trophy was presented to CSU Director of Athletics Lee Reed Wednesday night at the League’s annual Executive Council meeting awards dinner in Marco Island, Fla.
The Vikings earned 46 points to edge Butler University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which tied for second place with 43 points apiece.
Youngstown State finished tied for sixth place with Loyola with 26 points.
Steelers tickets
PITTSBURGH — A limited number of individual game tickets for the Steelers 2008 home games are available through Ticketmaster beginning on Saturday, June 21, at noon. This marks the second consecutive season fans will be able to purchase the tickets through Ticketmaster.
Fans may buy up to four tickets total for the eight regular-season games while there is no limit for the two preseason home contests. A majority of the tickets will be priced at either $59 or $62. However, there will be single seats available at prices ranging from $59-$240.
Tickets will be sold either on www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 412-323-1919. American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover will be accepted by Ticketmaster. Tickets will not be sold at Ticketmaster outlets.

Ochoa withdraws MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Lorena Ochoa has withdrawn from this week’s Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika.
The world’s No. 1-ranked woman golfer said in a statement that her uncle was ill, and she needed to be with her family. Tournament organizers say she left for Mexico on Tuesday night.
Ochoa has won six times this season. She finished second at the Ginn Tribute last year, losing a playoff to Nicole Castrale.
NASCAR penalizes 3 JR Motorsports members
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three members of Brad Keselowski’s team, including crew chief Tony Eury Sr., were penalized Wednesday for participating in post-race altercation with Denny Hamlin’s crew on pit road at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Crew members from both teams scuffled after late race contact between the two drivers in Saturday night’s Nationwide Series event. Keselowski ran into the back of Hamlin under caution, and Hamlin retaliated by hitting him back.
