Youngstown, Campbell firefighters extinguish Cold Metal blaze

CAMPBELL — Firefighters from Youngstown and Campbell put out a fire in the back of the Cold Metal Products building on Montgomery Avenue today.

The building was nearly empty of equipment, but workers were dismantling metal pieces when their welding torches caught an office area on fire, said Youngstown Battalion Chief Terrence Jordon.

The fire was reported at 12:48 p.m. and was out in about an hour. No one was injured.

Parts of the facility are in Campbell and parts in Youngstown. Campbell firefighters said the part of the structure that caught fire is in Campbell, but Youngstown firefighters arrived first and took the lead on handling it.

It is the second time since December that the structure has caught fire.

Cold Metal Products is a specialty steel maker that closed its doors in August 2003.
