Jackson Township fire causes $75K damage


NORTH JACKSON — Firefighters from Jackson Township and Lordstown battled a house fire at 2481 Pritchard-Ohltown Road today that caused $75,000 in damage.

Jackson Township Fire Chief Wayne McDougal said no one was home at the time of the fire, which started in the attached garage and spread to the kitchen and bath area of the home. The house received extensive smoke and water damage. The homeowner is Greg Smith.

Firefighters responded to the call at 5:21 p.m. and remained at the scene for more than four hours.

One firefighter from the Lordstown Fire Department was treated after being hit on the head with a piece of drywall but was OK, the chief said. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
