Church plans to change food vendors
staff report
CANFIELD — Beginning Saturday, Emmanuel Community Church, 6512 Kirk Road, will be changing food vendors from Angel Food Ministries to Great Food for All. The switch will allow for improvements in ordering, packaging and specials, said Lisa Loveless, administrator and host site director for Emmanuel Community.
Great Food for All offers food at a reduced price because food is bought in bulk, according to Loveless. On average, there is enough food in one basic box to last a week for a family of four and a month for a single or senior citizen.
Emmanuel Community was the third church in Ohio to adopt a food vendor service, and initially started out serving more than 450 people. Now, according to Loveless, the number of people being reached is down to about 35.
Anyone can buy food from Great Food For All. It is just like shopping at any other bargain-price food store, Loveless said.
Food will be pre-packaged. People will also be able to order online and, starting in July, people can use food stamps, Visa, MasterCard and debit cards for on-site automated ordering.
Upcoming ordering dates are Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; June 4 and 11, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and June 12, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No orders will be taken after June 12, and order pick up is June 28, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more information, call (330) 799-6187 or visit www.greatfoodforall.com or ecc4u.org.
