Masury teen killed when ejected in crash

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. — A Masury teenager was killed in a one-car accident on Longview Road in Shenango Township.

The accident occurred at 1:11 a.m. Monday, said Southwest Mercer County Regional Police.

Margaret Marmion, 17, of 8176 Warren-Sharon Road, Masury, was killed after being ejected from the car, police said. Seven other teenagers, including the driver, Kayla Byknish, of Sharon, were treated at area hospitals. Police did not give Byknish’s age.

Police said the car had rolled over and was resting on its passenger side at the bottom of a hill. Police continue to investigate.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the Memorial Day weekend was the safest on record for the past 38 years.

Six people were killed in six crashes over the holiday weekend on Ohio roads, four fewer deaths than during the same period last year.

Charged with assault

YOUNGSTOWN — A man described as highly intoxicated inside Pal Joey’s, a tavern on East Midlothian Boulevard, was charged with felonious assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct.

Police said Dominic A. Chiera, 30, of Meadowbrook Drive, became violent when told to leave the bar and struck Patrolman P.J. Chance in the chest around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Trumbull County woman arraigned in Pa. killing

GREENVILLE, Pa. — A woman charged in a brutal slaying last week was arraigned Tuesday morning, denied bail and is in the Mercer County jail. Krystle Weaver, 20, of Fowler Township, Trumbull County, was brought from Ohio to Pennsylvania to face charges in the homicide of Thomas Lorigan, 44, of Jamestown, Pa., on May 20 at his daughter’s apartment at 94 Clinton St. in Greenville.

He was stabbed to death and his daughter, Heather Turk, also was stabbed. She was in critical condition Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Weaver is charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and burglary, said Robert Kochems, Mercer County district attorney.

Fire kills mother, son

EAST LIVERPOOL — A mother and her child died in a fire at their home at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to the East Liverpool Fire Department. The fire kept Gianni Wright, 28, and Zachary Wright, 6, from getting out of their single-story, frame house at 926 St. Clair Ave.

Her husband, Edward Wright, had burns but was not treated. Another son, Damian, 8, was treated for burns at East Liverpool City Hospital. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
