Man’s wallet, phone and truck taken

YOUNGSTOWN — A Boardman man who stopped at a tavern in the 3000 block of South Avenue was robbed of his wallet and cell phone, and one of the two suspects drove off in his pickup truck.

The 25-year-old Southwoods Boulevard man told police he intended to get food at the tavern on his way home from work around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when two men, both wearing bandannas and hoodies, approached him near the entrance and demanded his money. The man said he was punched in the side and dragged back to his truck, where he handed over his wallet to one suspect while the other took the truck keys off his belt loop.

One suspect ran toward East Boston Avenue and the other drove off in the 1999 Dodge pickup, telling the victim to not move or he’d be shot, reports show. The man said he wasn’t sure if the robber had a gun. The tavern owner offered to drive the man home.
