FOOD SALES AND DINNERS | Sit-down and takeout events planned


FRIDAY

• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; and bread and butter, coffee or tea. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pirogi. The cost is $4.50 a dozen. Orders will be taken from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528. Orders should be placed early and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. A mini garage sale will be held in conjunction with the event. June 6 will be the final day of sales for the season.

• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will sell pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m. Friday.

• Potato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Frozen pirogi will be sold while supplies last. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. This is the final sale of the season.

• St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $4.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance. June 6 will be the last day of sales for the season. Sales will resume in September.

SATURDAY

• Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima, will serve spaghetti dinners from 3 to 7 p.m. as a benefit for a San Quentin, Mexico, medical mission trip. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, beverage and strawberry shortcake. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts will be available.

• North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will sponsor a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. The all-you-can-eat meal will include eggs, pancakes, French toast, potatoes, sausage, fruits, juice and coffee. A donation will be accepted. For more information, call (330) 549-2333.

SUNDAY

• St. James the Apostle Church, Route 422 West, New Bedford, Pa., will serve a breakfast buffet prepared by the men’s group from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church social hall. The buffet will include French toast and pancakes with fruit and maple syrups; sausage, ham and bacon; home fries; scrambled eggs and eggs with peppers, onions and cheese; and toast, rolls, juice and coffee. There will also be strawberry shortcake and ice cream. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. For information, call (724) 964-8276.

• St. Patrick Home and School Association will serve chicken dinners from noon to 3 p.m. at the parish center,225 N. Main St., Hubbard. Eat-in or takeout meals will include a half chicken, parsley potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, bread, water and lemonade. Meals are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Desserts, watermelon and pop will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the playground fund. For more information, call (330) 534-2509.

• Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, will have takeout dinners of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans available from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) on June 5. The cost is $6. There is no need to preorder or get out of the car.

• Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 at 534, will serve chcken dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. June 4. The menu includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. The cost is $7.50 for adults. Children’s meals of chicken tenders will be available for those 4 to 10 for $4, and are free for those 3 and under.
