Canfield softball advances

AKRON — Canfield High defeated Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, 2-0, Wednesday, in a Division I regional softball semifinal game at Firestone Park.

The Cardinals’ Tricia Bettura pitched a two-hit shutout, and Canfield got RBI hits from Lauren Sulick and Melissa West.

Canfield advances to the regional championship game Saturday at noon against the winner of Thursday’s semifinal between Akron Hoban and Southeast.
