Teen charged in muffin case

HICKORY, Pa. (AP) — State police say a 17-year-old Lawrence County boy is accused of lacing muffins with an ingredient that sickened a high school teacher.

Police say the student at Laurel High School in Hickory was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His name has not been released because he is charged as a juvenile.

Police say after the teacher ate the muffin, she felt woozy, disoriented and ill. She was taken to a hospital and has since returned to her job.

Authorities say they don’t know what was in the muffin.
