HARTFORD — Alan Dellinger won two feature races while Jim Weller Jr, Jimmy Hawley and Jason Scoville each won a headliner, to highlight car racing at Sharon Speedway.

Dellinger won his second Tight Seal Glass Block Pure Stock event, taking the lead on lap five of the 15-lap feature event and going on to a convincing win over Stan Woomer.

Dellinger also won his second Tom’s Sewer and Drain Service E-Mod Feature event of the season.

It took Jim Weller Jr. of Hubbard a year-and-a-half, but he made a triumphant and convincing return to the Hovis Auto Supply Victory Lane in the 25 lap Gibson-Governor feature event.

Hawley of West Middlesex, won the 25 lap Harley-Davidson of Warren Sprint Division feature event.

Scoville jumped into the lead in the 20-lap main event and held on for his third career victory.

Lernerville Speedway

SARVER, Pa. — Rob Eyler of Franklin won the Commercial Truck Trailer Sprints at Lernerville Speedway.

John Mollick of Toronto was first across the line in the Friedman’s Freshmarket Super Late Models race.

In the Ferrante Motor Cars event, Brian Swartzlander of Leechburg got the checkered flag. Also, Mike Pegher, Jr. of Wexford beat the field to take the Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks.

Ratings rise for Stanley Cup opener

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Detroit Red Wings’ victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals opener was the highest-rated and most-watched cable telecast of the championship round in six years.

The Red Wings’ 4-0 win on Saturday night had a 1.8 national rating — drawing over 2.3 million viewers. The rating was the highest for an NHL game on Versus, topping the audience that watched the Penguins’ Game 2 victory over Philadelphia in this year’s Eastern Conference finals.

Versus will show Game 2 of the finals tonight before the series shifts to NBC for the remaining games.

The Game 1 rating is a 157 percent increase over last year’s opener and a 100 percent rise from two years ago.

Noah is arrested

CHICAGO — Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah was arrested in Gainesville, Fla., early Sunday on allegations of possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and an open-container violation, police said. Sumner Hallett, public information officer for the Gainesville Police Department, said Noah has a court date in June.

An attempt to reach Noah wasn’t immediately successful.

A team spokesman said general manager John Paxson is aware of the incident but would reserve comment until more information has been gathered.

The spokesman added that Paxson spoke to Noah on Sunday and expressed his disappointment in Noah’s actions.

Indian Ashton wins fifth career start

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jockey Elvis Trujillo road Indian Ashton to a one-length victory over Probation Ready in the $50,400 turf sprint feature at Churchill Downs on Sunday.

Indian Ashton, a 4-year-old gelding, was the 8-5 favorite in the race for horses 3 and up. The race marked Indian Ashton’s fifth win in 11 career starts, as the California-bred horse trained by Wesley Ward ran five furlongs on firm turf in 56.92 seconds. Indian Ashton paid $5.40, $4 and $2.60.

Lacrosse final set

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Perennial lacrosse powers Syracuse and Johns Hopkins were finally long shots to meet in the national championship game.

Syracuse struggled to a 5-8 record last season when three players were suspended for off-field behavior. Defending champion Hopkins was just 3-5 midway through this season.

Today, one of them will win the NCAA men’s title for a record 10th time.

Hejduk added to team

LONDON — Columbus Crew midfielder Frankie Hejduk has been added to the U.S. national team roster for Wednesday’s exhibition match against England at Wembley Stadium.

Hejduk, a two-time World Cup veteran who has played in 75 games for the United States, will be making his first appearance at a national team camp this year.
