Kahne wins Coca-Cola 600

CONCORD, N.C. — Kasey Kahne capitalized on yet another heartbreaking Tony Stewart defeat, grabbing the lead from the two-time champion when his tire went flat with three laps to go in the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday night.

Kahne led 65 laps at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, but forfeited it to Stewart with 16 laps to go when he had to stop for gas. Stewart stopped for gas later, but had a shorter fill-up that cycled him back into the lead.

Stewart was cruising toward his first win in NASCAR’s longest race of the year when he smacked the wall, causing his tire to go flat and forcing him to head to the pits.

Kahne zipped by for the win.
