Two accused in Pa. killing choose to waive extradition

The two suspects are telling different stories to police, a court document says.

WARREN — Two Trumbull County residents have waived extradition to stand trial in Pennsylvania in the stabbing death of a man and severe wounding of a woman over money.

Ronald Machado, 21, and Krystle Weaver, 20, both of 3957 Bushnell-Campbell Road, Fowler Township, waived extradition Friday before Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

They are being held in the county jail until Pennsylvania authorities pick them up.

Both are charged with the Tuesday killing of Thomas Lorigan, 44, of Jamestown, Pa., and wounding of Heather Turk at her Clinton Street apartment in Greenville, Pa.

An affidavit signed by Greenville police Sgt. Paul Molton provides details of the murder and wounding:

Police were called about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday to the Clinton Street apartment. When they arrived, they found Lorigan in the apartment. He had been stabbed repeatedly.

Turk was found on the kitchen floor, stabbed repeatedly, including through her skull and into her brain.

Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems would not say Friday where Turk is being treated, but knew Wednesday she was in stable but critical condition.

The affidavit said Machado, who used to live with Turk in the apartment, and Weaver were seen by a neighbor loading Weaver’s 1997 red Chevrolet Lumina with personal items about an hour before police were called. The two were not at the apartment when police arrived.

Machado was interviewed Wednesday by Molton and Pennsylvania State Police. According to the affidavit, he and Weaver went to Turk’s apartment to wait for her to arrive. They called Turk’s cell phone to find out where she was and unscrewed a light bulb to darken the area.

When Lorigan and Turk arrived with milk for Turk’s two children – ages 1 and 2, Machado and Weaver both attacked Lorigan.

Machado said Weaver stabbed Turk in the head. Then, Weaver had to use her foot on Turk’s neck to pull the knife out. Machado said Weaver gave him the knife and he stabbed Lorigan in the head.

Machado and Weaver then fled, throwing the knife away.

Machado told police that he and Weaver had discussed robbing Turk at her apartment. They took her television and $400 from her purse.

But Weaver tells a different story, the affidavit says.

Weaver admitted to being at the apartment, but said she was outside smoking a cigarette when she hearing screaming.

Machado told her he wanted to go to the apartment to ask Turk about moving back with her, because Weaver’s mother wouldn’t allow him to stay in her home.

Weaver called 911. Machado came out of the building, pushing her and saying “get the hell out of here.” They both left the apartment in Weaver’s car. She said Machado used a large folding knife he always carries.

After waiving extradition Friday, Weaver said she was “set up.”
