Event will mark kickoff of 2000 Youth March

YOUNGSTOWN — The 2000 Youth March, which will be Aug. 2, is having a kickoff event today at 6 p.m. The event will be at the Christian Revival and Discipleship Center, 3300 Hudson Ave., and will last for about two and a half hours. This campaign to stop violence and increase the peace will have close to 20 area youth ministries coming together to support the Youth March that will be at the end of the summer.

Associate Minister Troy Hunter of the Christian Revival and Discipleship Center said, “We are trying to get everyone on board to support the march with this kickoff event.”

Today’s event’s purpose is to create awareness for the 2000 Youth March through singing, testimonies and worship.

Various youth leaders from Youngstown will be speaking on acts of violence that occur in the area and try to instill the values of peace. Videos will also be shown.

According to Hunter, the idea of the march is to create a united front against violence. He thinks if enough people support the march in August, Youngstown will see increased peace.
