Boardman police will step up patrols this weekend

BOARDMAN — Township police will be supplementing regular patrols with high-visibility patrols this weekend because of the Memorial Day holiday.

Officers will be targeting all violators for aggressive driving offenses, operating vehicle while impaired-related violations and seatbelt use.

The department’s efforts will be in partnership with state and local law enforcement and highway safety officials through the holiday weekend to launch an aggressive national “Click It or Ticket” seatbelt enforcement campaign to crack down on people who don’t use seatbelts and to reduce traffic fatalities.

There will be an emphasis on persuading motorists to buckle up during day and night-time travel. The campaign runs through June 1.
