Washingtonville/Leetonia Memorial Day events scheduled
WASHINGTONVILLE — The Annual Washingtonville/Leetonia Memorial Day Commemoration will form at 9:45 a.m. at the Washingtonville Pharmacy and begin at 10 a.m. Youth, civic, and other organizations are invited to participate. The parade will proceed to the VFW Post 5532 Memorial on South County Road, where services will be held. The Leetonia High School Marching Band, under the direction of Randy Rodik, will provide music and Dan Fire will serve as the master of ceremonies. World War II veterans in attendance will be honored. They are asked to register at VFW Post 5532 by 9:30 a.m. Also, family members of area servicemen killed in action that would like to participate in the Memorial Day Services are asked to also register at the post by 9:30. Following the service in Washingtonville, a brief service will be held at the gravesite of Medal of Honor recipient Ralph Dias at the Oakdale Cemetery in Leetonia.
