Trust fund set up for injury victim

CANFIELD — A trust fund is established at Huntington National Bank to help with medical costs for Rachel Widomski, the Canfield native injured outside a Columbus restaurant last week.

Widomski, 28, suffered a spinal cord injury when a driver ran her over after she and the co-owner of the restaurant Haiku chased after a patron who had not paid his bill. The injury has left her paralyzed from the waist down. The driver has been charged with four counts of felonious assault and awaits trial.

John E. Frano, owner of Precision Machine Controls of Youngstown, and Martha Mancino have established the trust. They are Widomski’s uncle and aunt. Checks can be made payable to “The Rachel Widomski Medical Care Trust.” They can be mailed to Huntington National Bank, 23 Federal Plaza, Youngstown, Ohio 44503, or to John E. Frano, 8265 Maplevale Drive, Canfield, Ohio 44406. Widomski, a bartender at the restaurant, is a student at The Ohio State University.
