YOUNGSTOWN — The McDonough Museum of Art will feature exhibitions by Terence Michael Fetchet, Michele Monseau and Chris Sheban from June 14 to July 26. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. June 14, which is free and open to the public.

Fetchet is a painter and mixed-media artist from the Youngstown area who has exhibited nationally, including shows in New York and Cleveland.

His involvement in the arts extends beyond his own work as he is currently employed as the assistant stage/facility manager at the Youngstown Symphony. His work is greatly influenced by surrealism and abstract expressionism.

He will be presenting shadow boxes in “Lazarus or the Conspiracy” that will invite the audience to view the work from various perspectives.

Monseau, a San Antonio artist and Youngstown State University graduate, is known for composing scenes of her fellow artists and traveling companions in recumbent poses.

Not one to take a passive stance even on an event of world renown, Monseau successfully incorporates her recent visit to Italy for the Venice Biennale into her video installation, “Gone Again II.”

Sheban is an illustrator from the Chicago area best known for his luminous jacket paintings for the books “The Tiger Rising” and “Because of Winn-Dixie,” both by author Kate DiCamillo.

He also recently illustrated “The Shoe Tree of Chagrin,” a picture book by J. Patrick Lewis. His work has received both gold and silver medals from the Society of Illustrators.

His illustrations will be on display in the exhibit “Pictures For Words.”

Hours at the McDonough are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours until 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

The museum is located on Wick Avenue across from the Butler Institute of American Art. Admission is free. For more information, call (330) 941-1400.
