Meeting Wednesday, village officials handled these matters:

Approved the hiring of Mark Srock to work full time in the village road department, effective May 31, at a starting salary of $16.89 per hour. The addition of Srock, who is a journeyman bricklayer, will bring to five the number of employees in the department.

Talked about the summer parks program, set to get under way June 9. The program will include swimming lessons for children, a tennis clinic and a triathlon, noted Councilman Richard Harvey, who also heads council’s park and buildings committee. Recently, officials appointed seven part-time summer park employees, some of whom are certified lifeguards, to assist with activities, among other things, Harvey said.
