Local street signs found

AUSTINTOWN — Found: street signs, apparently from communities throughout the area.

The owner of a rental property on Callaway Circle turned in 17 street signs Wednesday to an employee of the Austintown Township Road Department, who turned them over to police. The property owner said he found the signs while cleaning out the home.

Names of the roads suggest the signs were taken from a variety of townships in Mahoning and Trumbull County. Among the signs were Meadow View, Pleasant Valley, Leffingwell, Victory, Western Reserve, Winner’s Circle, Huxley, Memory Lane, Sugarbush, East Golf, Country Club, Bedell, Garda Lane, St. Rosario Place, Spring Lake Lane, St. Albans and Lonesome Dove.

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Authorities have identified the man killed in an assault in an apartment at 94 Clinton St. on Tuesday as Thomas Lorigan of 183 Ray Road, Jamestown. J. Bradley McGonigle III, Mercer County coroner, ruled the death a homicide.

He said Lorigan, who authorities said is middle-aged, was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m. Tuesday in Apartment 103 at the Clinton Street address. Lorigan died of multiple stab wounds to the head and neck.

Robert Kochems, Mercer County District Attorney, has declined to comment on whether police have a suspect. Kochems said a second person was also assaulted and remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition. Neither he nor police would identify that person.
