Fitch defeats Boardman in makeup game in Boardman
BOARDMAN — The Fitch High baseball team hung on to defeat Federal League rival Boardman, 7-6, on Tuesday.
With runners on second and third and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, reliever Mike Olenych struck out Kevin McCulloh to end the game.
Junior Mike Hebebrand and sophomore Anthony Savko both doubled for the Falcons (14-8).
Winning pitcher Adam Meese went 42‚Ñ3 innings, before Olenych entered with two outs.
Senior Chad Kobylanski had two hits and two RBIs, senior Mike Popio had two doubles, junior Eric Walters knocked in two runs and senior Jon Tatarka doubled for the Spartans (15-10).
Fitch defeated Boardman in the Division I tournament. They have another regular-season game to make up.

AUSTINTOWN — Emily Purnell pitched a one-hitter for Austintown Fitch.
She was backed by a 10-hit attack led by Heidi Soriano with a triple, two singles and three RBIs.
Carly Ortz, Sam Kozbial and Jena Baun each had two singles to aid the Falcons.
