Judge delays sentencings in Liberty Twp. heist

Staff/wire report

AKRON — This week’s sentencings of three people who pleaded guilty in a nearly $8.4 million heist from an Ohio armored car company have been postponed indefinitely.

Federal Judge John Adams in Akron says the complexity of the cases prompted the delay. Just last week the judge had refused to delay Monday’s first sentencing because a defense attorney was late filing a document.

The defendants — mastermind Roger Lee Dillon and his mom, Sharon L. Gregory, and his girlfriend Nicole Boyd — are from Youngstown and told investigators the theft from the man’s place of employment at AT Systems in Liberty Township in November 2007 was meant to give them a better life.

The trio was captured in a house trailer in Pipestem, W.Va.

The man and his girlfriend each face up to 25 years in prison, and his mother could get 15 years.

Nicole Boyd was scheduled to be sentenced Monday, the other two Thursday.
