Taft Technology Center gets formal opening

YOUNGSTOWN — Former Gov. Bob Taft was among those who cut the ribbon this morning to mark the opening of a new $5.8 million building that bears his name.

“You are taking a major step in rebuilding and revitalizing of this city, and I congratulate you,” Taft said.

About 200 people gathered outside the Taft Technology Center on West Federal Street for the event. The building was named after the former governor because he helped secure about $3.5 million in state funding.

Turning Technologies and its 130 employees moved into the building two weeks ago. The maker of audience response systems had been in the adjacent Youngstown Business Incubator.
