New Vindy feature 'Game On!' starts Tuesday with Mill Creek baseball
People by the hundreds flock to the green fields that dot the landscape of every town. It's a regular pilgrimage.
The allure is the children -- a couple thousand of them, who are collected onto teams that make up numerous youth baseball and soccer leagues.
Seven nights a week in the spring and summer, clean green fields come to life with sounds and sights of learning, celebration and competition.
It's more than a sports league; it's a community — players, coaches, parents, volunteers, siblings, grandparents and more.
Tuesday, The Vindicator launches Game On! — a salute to the community that comes together through youth sports.
Every Tuesday over the next couple months, we'll feature a town and a sport, and the faces who bring it to life.
Tuesday, we start with the Mill Creek Baseball League. Look for people like Gina Yakimoff, Sue Summers, Tina Sline and C.J. Woodberry.
In upcoming weeks, The Vindicator will visit other area towns. Next up to bat will be Boardman, Niles, Canfield and Austintown.
