Standohars plan to mark 60 years of marriage June 5

X GIRARD — Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Standohar of Girard will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 5.

The couple were married June 5, 1948, at St. Rose Church.

Mrs. Standohar, the former Eleanor Helman, is retired from the Trumbull County Recorder’s Office in Warren.

Mr. Standohar retired in 1989 as captain of the Girard Police Department. He served as technical sergeant with the amphibious engineers in New Guinea and the Philippines for three years in World War II. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Girard Knights of Columbus and St. Rose Ushers.

The Standohars are also members of the Saxon Club in Austintown.
