Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, Men’s Needlecraft Club at 10 a.m. and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting and exercise at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, and digital club at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., computer at 10 a.m. and noon, tai chi at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, woodcarvers and Watch Our Weight Club at 9 a.m., D.J. Stitchers at 10, exercise at noon and line dancing at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Texas Hold’em at 1 p.m. Special events are: AARP 55-Alive Driving Classes, Monday and Tuesday; New Middletown Fun Day, Tuesday; Lake Milton Fun Day, Wednesday; and Youngstown Fun Day, Friday. The center is closed on Memorial Day. Home Energy Assistance Program applications are available at the center. Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority will host an open house to celebrate Older Americans Month from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Norton Manor, 1400 Springdale Ave., Youngstown. YMHA will have several local agencies at the event offering health screening and free samples. A fully furnished apartment will be open for public viewing. Refreshments will be served, and there will be a drawing for prizes at the end of the event. Participating agencies include: Lincoln Knolls Pharmacy, Neighborhood Health Watch, Associates Family Foot Care, Anthem Senior Advantage and Visiting Physicians Association.
