YSU inks a pair of cage recruits
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown State basketball programs announced recruits for the 2008-09 season Thursday.
The YSU men’s team signed Eddie D’Haiti of Orlando, Fla., to a letter of intent. D’Haiti (6-foot-8), a forward from Oak Ridge High School, was honorable mention all-state in Class 6A, Florida’s big-school division. He was first team all-conference and All-Orange County, and was second team All-Central Florida by the Orlando Sentinel. He was ranked one of the top 40 seniors in the state by various Web sites.
Last season, he led Oak Ridge to a 21-9 record, averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds per game.
He is the fifth recruit for the 2008-09 season.
New YSU women’s coach Cindy Martin has signed Kenya Middlebrooks to a letter of intent.
Middlebrooks (5-8), a guard from Toledo Waite High School, is Martin’s second recruit for next season.
She was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner at Waite, leading the team to two conference championships and the school’s first district championship in 20707. Last season, Middlebrooks averaged 10 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and was named third team Division I all-state.
