Townships to apply for grant funding
SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Union Township supervisors have agreed to jointly apply with Mahoning and Pulaski townships to obtain grant funding to amend their multi-municipal 2007 Comprehensive Plan.
The plan had been completed before the announcement that the Valley View Downs racetrack would locate off U.S. Route 422 in Mahoning Township.
The project is near both other townships, and the three want to coordinate zoning of the area to make it consistent for anticipated development it will attract.
Supervisors also approved a new zoning permit fee for those living in the New Castle Airport area when they met Thursday.
The new fees include $10 for residential properties and $50 for commercial for review of sites to make sure they comply with airport regulations.
Other minor changes also were made in the zoning permit fee schedule to correct typographical errors.
