Winners of piano competition are to perform at Bliss Hall


YOUNGSTOWN — The thirteen winners of the Youngstown State University-Youngstown Music Teacher Association Masters Piano Competition will be the featured performers at an awards recital scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bliss Hall on the campus of YSU.

The event is free and open to the public.

Performing their winning selections will be:

• Level Pre-A (kindergarten through third grade) — Max Lee, son of Dr. and Mrs. Tac Lee of Canfield, and Julianna Titi, daughter of Robert and Rose Ann Titi of Canfield.

• Level A (fourth through sixth grades) — Tommy Kuhns, son of John and Gretchen Kuhns of Canfield.

• Level B (seventh through ninth grades) — Dominic DeLaurentis, son of Dom and Jackie DeLaurentis of Poland; Jake and Johnna Madison, children of Dr. and Mrs. John Madison of Salem; Lindsay K. Olsen, daughter of Thomas Kirkham and Melanie Olsen of Boardman; and Hayley Ward, daughter of Robert and Laura Ward of Canfield.

• Level C (10th through 12th grades) — Anthony Casacchia, son of Bob and Sandy Casacchia of Columbiana; Amy Dunlap, daughter of Jim and Belinda Dunlap of East Liverpool: Ellyanna Kessler, daughter of Chaya and Sandy Kessler of Youngstown; and Jessica Shearer, daughter of Reginald and Lee-Ann Shearer of Wampum, Pa.

• Level D (concerto division) — Alyssa Tom, daughter of Yuel D. and Joyce W. Tom of Poland.

The competition was held May 10 at Bliss Hall, where 25 students competed on the various levels. The 13 winners each received a $50 bond.

Teachers represented by the students are Joan Cosgrove, Fanny DiDomenico, Melva Huebert and Audrey Rhinehart.

Professor Tedrow Perkins was chairman of the competition. Cynthia Evans is YMTA president.
