Realty Tower Apartments project gets going

With hard hats and gold scissors, developer Lou Frangos, along with city officials and project members, cut the ribbon today to officially announce the renovations of the Realty Tower Apartments.

According to development project manager, Bill Sperlazza, the contractors should begin demolition work for the 25 upscale apartments within the next three weeks.

The slogan on the posters of the old Realty Trust Building read, “love old, live new” and Frangos is convinced people will take to the idea of a new residential hot spot.

Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, present at the ceremony, believes this project will not only be good for downtown, but for all of the Mahoning Valley. “I think there will be a waiting list,” he said.

Frangos said the apartments should be done within the next 12 months. “Everyone has incentive to get this done as soon as possible,” he said.
