Legislature honors fallen Pa. firefighter


HARRISBURG — A fallen firefighter was honored Wednesday by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Bradley Holmes, 21, who was a member of the Pine Township Engine Co., died March 6, six days after becoming trapped in a burning duplex in Grove City, Pa.

A woman he was trying to rescue, Patricia Andrews Smith, 40 died in the blaze. It was started by a hair dryer left running, fire investigators discovered.

Holmes was honored by a moment of silence in the House. His parents, Joseph and Deborah, and his brother, Christopher, attended.

Holmes was a 2004 graduate of Grove City High School and an information technology student at Slippery Rock University. He would have been 22 years old Wednesday.
