Former treasurer gets probation for stealing from youth football program

YOUNGSTOWN — A Beloit woman has been put on a year’s probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service after admitting she stole $15,000 from the West Branch Little Warriors while serving as that athletic organization’s treasurer.

Krista L. Zinni, 37, of West South Range Road, waived indictment and pleaded guilty to an information charging her with theft before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who sentenced her today.

Zinni stole the money from the football and cheerleading program between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, according to the bill of information, which shows the charge as a first degree misdemeanor.

Zinni has made full restitution, having paid $10,000 today and $5,000 previously.

Judge Sweeney ordered Zinni to pay court costs within six months and suspended a $1,000 fine and a 180-day jail sentence.
